PASTA BY MISSY ROBBINS AND TALIA BAIOCCHI
A visual tour through Italy to accompany Missy and Talia’s James Beard nominated book.
A stylish, transporting pasta master class from New York City’s premier pasta chef, with recipes for 40 handmade pasta shapes and 100 Italian American, regional Italian, and modern dishes.
For the book Missy and Talia asked me to travel through the various regions of Italy to provide visual depth to the book and to imbue Missy’s recipes with context by photographing the regions that inspired them.
Shot over the course of two weeks during the height of the COVID pandemic the challenge facing me was how to capture the raw beauty of the Italian landscape without making it feel deserted. To capture the people and the places without making it a “Covid book”.
My hope is that the imagery is able to pair as a fitting accompaniment for Missy’s towering and studied recipe and that the images give the viewer a bit more richness as they cook their way through PASTA.
